• All the ladies are qualified to a high level of Childcare and Early Years Development (minimum of NVQ3) and have many years experience of working in Nurseries, Preschools and similar settings.

    All staff hold certificates in Paediatric First Aid. 

  • Kay Guildford-James BA EYPS
    Manager & Safeguarding Officer

    Kay has worked at Mount Preschool since 2002. During her time here, Kay has trained for Child Care Education and Development NVQ’s 3 and 4, Foundation Degree in Early Years and in 2012 successfully completed her BA degree as an Early Years Professional with Huddersfield University.

    Kay became manager in 2008 when the setting was a Committee Run Charity. In 2014 Kay bought out the business from the Pre-school Learning Alliance and took over as owner of Mount Preschool. Kay is the settings Safeguarding officer and is qualified in First Aid for Adults and Children.

  • Jo Williams
    Deputy Manager and SENCo

    Jo had DPP qualifications in child care having trained and worked at other settings before joining Mount Preschool in 2007. Jo is the settings Special Educational Needs Coordinator working with children that are identified as needing additional help in their learning and development.

  • Karen Hirst
    Childcare Practitioner

    Karen has been working at Mount preschool since 1998 and completed her NVQ3 qualification in 2003. She has much experience in dealing with children and is a firm believer in teaching good manners to all.  Many children that Karen has seen through

    Preschool are now leaving school and going on to University!

  • Julie Hoyle
    Childcare Practitioner

    Julie has spent all her working career being at nurseries or preschools. She has worked at Mount preschool since 2006. Julie has the NNEB nursery nursing qualifications since leaving school. She is very experienced in children’s early education and care.

  • Joanne Ravenscroft
    Childcare Practitioner

    Joanne started at Mount Preschool in 2008 has worked in Nurseries and Preschools throughout her career, she is qualified to NNEB level (NVQ3 equivalent).  She loves to spend time with the children and help them in their development.

  • Joanne Lunn
    Childcare Practitioner

    Joanne started with Mount Preschool as a student on placement whilst she was completing her NVQ 2 qualification. She then completed her NVQ3 when she became a member of staff in 2008. She is currently completing her Health and Social Care course through the Open University.

  • Tracy Gardner
    Childcare Practioner

    Tracy has joined the team in 2018 after working with a local nursery where she gained 9 years experience working with children aged birth to 5 years.  Tracy passed her NVQ3 Diploma in Childcare and Education in 2009, and is passionate about providing the best child care and play experiences.

  • Claudia Batty
    Childcare Practioner

    Claudia has joined the team in 2018 after working with a Nursery in the Halifax area where she gained 7 years experience working as a childcare practitioner.   Claudia has a NVQ3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, and is energetic and passionate about child development.

  • Mandy Nuttall
    Administrator

    Mandy originally started at Mount Preschool as the committee chair and served from 2003 until 2007.  She the became the settings administrator dealing with all aspects such as policy updates, new children enrolment and the setting payroll.  Mandy is qualified to NVQ3 in Childcare and Early Years Education.

  • Gareth James
    Cook

    Gareth joined the team in 2014 and is the settings cook and prepares all meals on site. The meals are designed for children aged 2 to 5 and follow Early Years cookbook recipes provided by the Preschool Learning Alliance.

    Gareth holds the Food Safety level 2 certificate and the setting has been awarded a 5 STAR, very good rating in accordance with Kirklees Food Standards Agency.

  • At Mount Preschool we often have students on work placement schemes from Huddersfield University, Kirklees College, Huddersfield New College and work experience students from local schools and academies.
