CONGRATULATIONS to Karen, who has achieved 20 years of working at Mount Preschool on 20th April. 20 years of hard work and many, many children who she has cared for and helped on their first steps through their early years.

  • Our aim is that all children will enjoy their time at Mount Preschool and learn the skills they need to build the foundations of their early education, preparing them for the next steps into school and their future life.

  • "Our Family Caring for Your Family"

Mount Preschool started as a Parent run pre-school as early as 1972. It has steadily progressed through the years and has seen many changes. Since 2014 it has been run as a private business by the Manager, Kay Guildford-James and has extended its opening times to provide full wrap-around care for children from 2 years old until they leave to start primary school.

Children who attend Mount Preschool are welcomed into a warm, secure and friendly atmosphere, where they are supported in their early years by a team of well qualified and dedicated staff.

  • "Outcomes for Children are Good. Children acquire the essential skills they need for the next stage of their learning and eventual move on to school."

    Christmas Glitter!

There was lots of glitter around Mount Preschool in the run up to Christmas. The children all made Christmas cards, decorations for their trees and calendars to give to their mums and dads.

We had two Christmas parties with lots of fun and games. Santa was able to pay us a visit with his Chief Elf and presents for all the boys and girls. Frosty the snowman came as well!

The older children performed our annual Christmas Nativity in the Church with lots of proud parents and relatives watching. They had been practicing their songs for weeks and the show was a great success.

  • Outdoor Play Enhancements

In January we installed a new Mud Kitchen in the outdoor play area. The children were all immediately attracted and enjoyed transferring mud from the digging tyre to the kitchen.

In February our lovely new planters have arrived and we will be busy in the next few days and weeks planting seeds, growing flowers and learning how plants grow.  If you are a keen gardener, have a few cuttings to donate or just like to get messy, please let one of the team know we welcome as much support you can give.

Also in February our new all weather outdoor easel has arrived which will provide the children with hours of creative fun.

Finally we have had a playhouse donated from a local family and this now proudly sits in our playground, work has been ongoing sprucing this up, and the team are busy thinking of ways we can use this for some creative role play adventures.
